Laurie Raphaelson

Laurie S. Raphaelson brings almost twenty-five years of experience practicing law in the Probate and Family Courts of Commonwealth of Massachusetts to her clients. Ms. Raphaelson’s practice focuses in the areas of family law and real estate.

In her family law practice, Ms. Raphaelson works with individuals and families to resolve domestic disputes through mediation and litigation. She counsels clients in a wide range of matters, including divorce and division of marital assets, guardianships, child and spousal support arrangements and modifications, conservatorships, estate matters, contempt and paternity actions. With her educational background in the field of mental health, she also serves the court as a parent coordinator in child custody cases, and as a guardian ad litem for minors, the elderly and mentally ill. Ms. Raphaelson is experienced in working with families through some of the most emotionally charged times in their lives, carefully listening to all of their concerns and taking the time to identify the distinct needs and goals of each case.

In her real estate practice, Ms. Raphaelson counsels clients in real estate matters related to residential properties. In this role, she represents buyers and sellers.

Ms. Raphaelson is active in serving the needs of her community. She is a participant in the YMCA Annual Youth Support Campaign and sits on the Board of the Jewish Family Services of Worcester, Inc. In addition to being on the Board of JFS, she provides legal representation to the agency, which serves as guardian to over a hundred elderly persons and has an adoption program and a parent education program for divorcing and separating families. She is an active member of the Worcester County Bar Association and the Massachusetts Bar Association, where she served many years on the Grant Advisory Committee. Ms. Raphaelson was a co-chair of the Worcester Probate Court Committee and was elected to the Executive Committee, and is now co-chairperson of the Worcester Bench-Bar Committee. In 2004, she was the recipient of the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Community Service Award, recognizing her dedication to serving the needy in Massachusetts.

Ms. Raphaelson holds a BA with honors in elementary education from the University of Massachusetts and earned her Masters of Arts degree in counseling psychology, cum laude, from Assumption College in 1982. She received her JD, cum laude, from Suffolk University School of Law in 1988. She is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the United States District Court of Massachusetts, and the Supreme Court of the United States.
